Being a part of the special needs community for a few decades, we have had a myriad of experiences that have shaped the way we look at things. We know that this community is filled with incredible people who care, want to make a difference, and most of all create change. We have seen it first hand in many different instances. Unfortunately, we have also seen the other side of the coin. We have seen people in powerful positions that don’t quite get it. What seems to be common sense, is anything but. We felt it was necessary to share some of our experiences and expertise to shed some light on the ones that get it and also the ones that don’t.
In this week’s episode we offer our insight into the special needs community and list a few traits we feel our imperative to have while working in this community. We are not saying these are the only traits, we are not even saying that these are the best traits, what we are saying is that the traits we will be talking about will definitely help in any situation, if you are working in the special needs community or not. We will provide some resources and some examples of traits that will give you an inside look on what works.
