A Boston Celtics Heroes Among Us Award recipient, and until recently, a full time employee at the Walnut Street Center in Somerville, a non-profit human service agency providing residential, day, employment and individual support services to adults with developmental disabilities. She is a great advocate for people with disabilities and for the expanded use of assistive technology.
Having been diagnosed with cerebral palsy as an infant, Adriana fully understands the challenges facing people with disabilities. She has made it her life’s mission to help others with disabilities foster independence and self-confidence. Adriana has always believed she could do anything she set her mind to; that includes graduating from Boston College, rock climbing, and traveling the world. She had been working for the Walnut Street Center for over four years, initially as a manager in one of the day programs and in July 2012 moved on to administrative supports.
Adriana is currently available as a consultant for caregivers and individuals with disabilities, assisting them with finding the necessary resources to reach their full potential. She also serves on the Board of Directors of Commonwealth Community Care (formerly BCMG), as well as on the Regional Board for Easter Seals Massachusetts.
