On Lincoln’s Birthday, Handicap This! emancipates a live special community audience by making their minds handicap accessible.
NORRIDGE, IL – On February 12, 2015, in honor of Lincoln’s Birthday, Handicap This! will film before a live audience. This groundbreaking community performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Ridgewood High School auditorium at 7500 W. Montrose in Norridge, IL.
Audience members will witness the challenges and triumphs of life through the eyes of Mike Berkson, a young quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. Tickets are $15; to purchase, visit HandicapThis.com. While tickets are available at the door, seating is limited; reservations are encouraged.
Based on the tremendous camaraderie of Mike Berkson and Tim Wambach and their commitment to overcome the challenges before them, Handicap This! has served as a powerful agent for change across the country. Mike and Tim’s compelling true story provides a provocative look at friendship, breaking down barriers, living with disabilities and, most of all, living life to its potential. Tens of thousands of audience members have had their minds emancipated and have been inspired to achieve their own goals and dreams.
In 2001, Tim Wambach met Mike Berkson, a twelve year-old quadriplegic with cerebral palsy. Tim discovered, after accepting the challenge to be Mike’s aide, that he was in for the biggest lesson of his life. The two formed a friendship, a bond that has continued to this day. Each discovered something within the other that connected and inspired them. Through humor and unconventional storytelling, Handicap This! relates their unique journey, celebrating the power of diversity and inclusion, and providing new insight on people living with disabilities.
