Collaboration is an interesting word. Sometimes we might think it means compromise and other times, we might feel that the loudest voice in the room we get what they ultimately want. We are here to tell you that, that is not always the case. Collaboration can and does work. In fact that is how we built Handicap This Productions. We used the power of collaboration. When you have a common goal and work towards that common goal, it is amazing what can happen. The best way to work is to put the egos aside, it is not always the easiest thing in the world, but when done right it produces amazing results. You might be asking why we are talking about this in our podcast? We have been asked enough times after shows or speeches, how we create what we do, that we felt that this was the perfect outlet to share a little deeper how we create what goes on stage. In this week’s episode we brought Denis Berkson, (Mike’s father) AKA The Creative Crusader, into the studio to break down how we work. Denis travels with us and has seen every single time we have performed. Denis’ background is that he was the performing art’s chair for almost forty years at Oakton Community College. Not only that, but Denis has been a leading authority in the field of “creativity” for over thirty years. Denis was a sought after keynote speaker for conferences all over the country. Denis has been the creative consultant for Handicap This Productions since 2010. Denis works unconventionally, but his results speak for themselves.
