WoW, what? WoW, you! And you, and you, and you!
We have received some incredible blogs from folks over the last few weeks, and I gotta tell you — we’re in WoW.
The one thing that never ceases to amaze me (an able-bodied-but-gravitationally-challenged person) is how relatable these stories are. How?? Because it’s not as much about the individual handicaps as it is about the universal spirit, attitude, and love that transcend the handicaps. When we take away our bodies, our muscles, our bones, even our organs, what do we have left? Our spirits. Our attitudes. Our love. I may not be able to relate to living with a physical handicap, but I can certainly relate to living beyond my body.
My gravitationally-challenged able body has never been able to do a cartwheel. Ever. E-VER. I’ve tried. Oh, have I tried. My hard head will attest. Did that stop me from going out for the cheerleading squad or pom-pom team? Hells no! I focused on what I could bring to the field — I’m a performer, I’m loud, I command my space, I have a contagious spirit that goes days…okay, and I look pretty decent in
those short skirts. I made the cheerleading squad. I made the pom-pom team. I was never as good as some of the other girls, but I did it. In spite of my body, I did it.
Though my little story is nowhere near as impressive or inspiring as the stories we’re receiving, when we turn our perspective dial a little to the left and tune into each other, we can all relate to one another in some way. The unique experiences described in the stories you are submitting capture universal similarities. That’s a big ol’ WoW in our book. We cannot wait to begin sharing them!
Our official cyber-stage opening is February 7th. Mike & Tim will be kicking it off with a special cyber-performance blog. Each week we will post one blog from HTP on Tuesday and one blog from our incredible community on Friday. If you haven’t submitted yet, no problem! It’s an open submission, so whenever works for you works for us. We know you have a unique story so get it to us so we can share it!
For more details on how to submit your blog in written or video form, please see our January 10th blog, HTP Wants YOU! If you have any questions, please feel free to email Tim at firstname.lastname@example.org.
