How We Roll: Timelessly Inspiring For ALL Ages

I’ve recently finished reading (again!) How We Roll by Tim Wambach, and I have to tell you — it’s a must read!  Why?  It’s timelessly inspiring and it’s for ALL ages.

What was most striking to me in rereading this book was that even though I’m in a different place in my life now and already know every story in the book inside out, I was again touched and inspired by these two real-life dynamic characters, Mike & Tim.  Their relationship is the definition of FRIENDSHIP.  Their adventures and experiences define LIVING.  Their tenacity and extraordinary keep-on-keeping-on attitude are awesomely INSPIRING.  This book is what made me fall in love with these two fine gentlemen and what motivated me to accept the challenge to bring their telling tale to the stage.

While theatre is an amazing medium to reach folks, books can reach everyone.  If you haven’t been able to see Handicap This! (yet!), How We Roll will bring Mike & Tim’s story to you.  It’s a well-paced read filled with humorous predicaments, deeply heartfelt moments, and life lessons about attitude and perseverance – and it’s all real!  It’s also fun to read aloud (just ask my nearly 2-year old son – he loved the bathroom stories as much as me!).  Even if you have seen the show, know their stories intimately, or have read the book already, it’s worth picking up.

This summer we have been riddled by stories of violence and as a new school year begins, there are children and parents holding their breath with the hope that kindness triumphs over the dreaded bully this year – we need a pattern interrupt!  How We Roll is a living example of how one person can make one choice that snowballs into magic…and then literally into the Magic Kingdom!

Parents & Aides – I urge you to read this book and learn how humor diffuses conflict and the mantra, “Improvise, Adapt, & Overcome” builds resilience in our children and ourselves.

Teachers – I urge you as well to read this book and challenge you to build a classroom of acceptance, tolerance, and kind curiosity for your students and yourselves.  You may be at the head of class, but you have as much to learn from your students as they do from you.

Students – Read this book!  How We Roll is for YOU!  One person can make an amazing difference in the lives of many.  This is a true story and Mike and Tim’s adventures continue to this day.  I double dare you to find what’s unique about yourselves and then use it to make your corners of the world shine as brightly.  You can.

Change is possible.  Dreams are attainable.  Obstacles are surmountable.  It all begins from within ourselves.  How We Roll will inspire you to get your own wheels turning.  It’s done it for me yet again.
