6 Months of Blogging: 7 Things We Learned
July 3, 2012Here We Go!
1. CONSISTENCY COUNTS.
One of our major goals with the Handicap This Blog has been consistency. Every Tuesday this year you have heard from us on a variety of topics. Everything from setting goals to able-bodied people parking in handicap spaces. In February we introduced our Guest Blog posts on Fridays. We have shared with you stories, opinions, and lessons that educate, empower, and entertain. We will continue to deliver high-quality content. We believe that consistency, along with providing great work, is paramount when blogging.
2. WE ENJOY COMMUNICATING IN ALL FORMATS.
In order to bring you fresh material, we strive to deliver our message in a variety of styles. Whether that is written posts, blog images, or video messages, we are constantly putting our best wheel forward. It is fun to shoot a video with our community in mind, and anytime we post one, we feel it helps us connect on a deeper level. Some people resonate more with the written word, some with pictures, and some with videos. Bottom line – we enjoy it all and will continue to share our stuff in a variety of ways. Check out our YouTube page!
3. WE HAVE A TALENTED COMMUNITY.
Ever since our first guest post in February, we have been blessed to receive outstanding stories from individuals from all walks (and rolls) of life. Our guest posts have been incredible. While each post is different, they all convey a positive and inspiring perspective on life. That is what Handicap This Productions is all about. There has been no shortage of amazing stories shared with us and we are always looking for guest posts. If you feel that you have something to share with the HTP community, please send Tim an email at tim@handicapthis.com and let us know!
4. TEAMWORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK.
We are fortunate to have such a strong array of talent associated with Handicap This Productions. Each person brings strengths to the table and we display that talent for all to see. Whether it is collecting guest posts, creating blog images, editing, or just at the keyboard crafting something special, we do it as a team and with a collective outcome – to give you outstanding content. We have been blessed that everyone is pulling in the same direction. As Mike says, “We are more like a family with each passing day.”
5. WE HAVE A TALENTED GRAPHIC DESIGNER.
Our written blog comes alive because of the vibrant and creative images attached to it! Each post is accompanied by a visual component that catches the reader’s eye and enhances the message within the words. We want our blog to be an experience for the mind and the eyes. We accomplish the second part because of Sarah. It is no easy task to sum up a post in one image. The feedback we receive is proof that Sarah is taking the blog to the next level – and rocking it!
Each authentic blog image can be found on our Pinterest page!
6. VARIETY IS THE SPICE OF BLOGGING
It is our mission to deliver something new and fresh with each blog. Whether by sharing a humorous anecdote, an inspiring tale, or just plain educating, we want the reader to experience life in someone else’s shoes and give them a new and positive perspective on their own life. We are constantly evolving as our blog grows and we continue to search for the very best content for you. If you have any topic suggestions, we would love to hear them!
7. BLOGGING ISN’T EASY – BUT WE LOVE TO DO IT!
Just because something is hard doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it – it just takes a little creativity and spirit (and sometimes some duct tape). That is our blog mantra. What you read is a finished product. You don’t see the hard work that goes on behind the curtain. Molly is hard at work editing each post (she also is an EXTREMELY talented writer and contributes those talents as well); Sarah is creating amazing images in her creative cocoon; Mike & Tim are always on the roll, looking for new content while writing and thinking of different ways to bring you interesting information.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for sharing. Thank you for supporting the Handicap This Blog!
